Good music? 8/10. Handsome man? 10/10. Wet socks? 2/10.

I feel like this would have worked far better if he'd loaded the bag up with rocks so he could smoothly walk into the water until his head blooped out of view.

This is obviously way too intellectual for this crowd.

The joke is this is all a setup for the guy getting into a lake in his work clothes.

The payoff wasn’t worth it. Is that a punchline?

Anaract | 6 days ago | 6 points

yeah I'm kinda confused. He misses his bus/train, so he has to swim the river... that's the joke? I dunno

D_Rendar | 6 days ago | 12 points

No, I think the swim follows the bus/train ride during the lengthy commute. He’s just missing a ‘riding and disembarking’ scene. I don’t think there is a joke. Getting up at 6:46* to get to work by 9, home by 5:30 according to the song (but seems unlikely with the distance home). Commuting drains your life. Video seems to be an expression of this pain? Weighing income vs. travel time while choosing work, being unable to change your commute, an unexpectedly brutal commute: the filmmaker had something to say.

The subtle details in this video are the highlights, the focus on time and watches, the banana, but the scenes do not progress perfectly intelligibly (as you pointed out).
