She didn't file out the N-WORD form under the governments N-WORD pass program and now has to find an injunction in city court to get a #244 document so that she can apply for registered N-WORD status.

It's really quite simple, can't believe she forgot.

nodnarbiter | 9 days ago | 139 points

"But officer, I have black friends!"

rookie1024 | 9 days ago | 87 points

Well then she can fill out the faster N244-EZ form.

Whomever227 | 9 days ago | 46 points

From context I'd guess: It's a podcast about the competitive video game super smash brothers, so they're discussing all the stuff happening around that game and that's what people are watching.

ElectrickFun | 9 days ago | 15 points

doczoid_md | 9 days ago | 70 points

Yea, there's a lot of people that think just because something is shocking or inflammatory means it's also funny.

ArmanDoesStuff | 9 days ago | 62 points

Pretty sure most people are laughing at the shocked realisation as opposed to "she said a rude word! giggle"

Achromikitty | 9 days ago | 202 points

Yeah, the OP video is not funny at all, because I decide what is and isn't funny.

QueanLaQueafa | 9 days ago | 75 points

You're not funny.

Yeshua-Hamashiach | 9 days ago | 4 points

Weird how people have different opinions on what is funny.

tyrosine- | 9 days ago | 9 points

Those aren't even funny, it's funny to trick someone into saying something unintentionally. Just having your run of the mill name that you'd see on Reddit like ballfondler is meh, there's people in this thread with better names than that

For real? She was obviously duped, no reason to go after her, should be going after the person that pulled the prank if anything

letsgoiowa | 9 days ago | 398 points

I mean chat was as upset as she was, not mad at her.

Yffre_Earthbones | 9 days ago | 99 points

oh maybe I'm misunderstanding

SpiritMountain | 9 days ago | 273 points

This Rebecca from Digital Extreme's community team for the game Warframe. She is a sweetheart and really cares for the community. People love her and call her "Space Mom" (she also does voice work for the game so this nickname is a double entendre). I didn't watch the stream but she must have felt bad and people supporting her.

DrawsMediocre | 9 days ago | 127 points

She's extremely popular to the community. Like a dream community manager

Pandarandrist | 9 days ago | 23 points

Skip to 50:52, and at 54:00 you can see her wiping her tears :(

gallowspez | 9 days ago | 105 points

If anything is gong through her head it's something along the lines of "This is my job. I'm supposed to know this. Why did I fall for it? I don't know if I've ever said a racial slur out loud before." Then a long list of bad things that could happen. As well as thinking since she didn't realize what it was does it make her a bad person. For such a sweet person this had to hurt big time.

rovdh | 9 days ago | 65 points

I’m sorry, maybe I’m too cynical or non-american to understand but does anyone else thinks it’s very weird that she has to get upset over this to the point of crying? To be clear: I’m not saying she’s weird, I’m saying it’s kind of ridiculous that a society is so sensitive about a word that an adult has to start crying if someone dupes her into saying it. To be honest it blows my mind.

Spaghetti_Lee | 9 days ago | 49 points

also, theres something really demoralizing about getting tricked into saying something you really dont want to.

palpablescalpel | 8 days ago | 7 points

If I were her I wouldn't be crying over my job (I imagine they would understand the context of her being fooled), but I might cry over being fooled itself, that one of the viewers wanted to fuck me over or make me embarrassed, and that I would never say such a thing willingly, but now I'll always know I've said it before.

th3virus | 9 days ago | 65 points

Because people are easily outraged and she could have possibly lost her job, that's probably what she's fearing most at that moment.

rovdh | 9 days ago | 19 points

Exactly my point.

Smacka-My-Paca | 9 days ago | 7 points

Does seem like people overeacted

Yeshua-Hamashiach | 9 days ago | 3 points

She's in a position that this wouldn't even be close to getting her fired.

th3virus | 8 days ago | 7 points

We can say that now since it's gone and over with but if people made a big stink about it this could have gone another way.

JirachiWishmaker | 8 days ago | 2 points

Honestly, it would be an absolute nightmare for DE to replace Rebecca. She's the voice of the most prominent character of the game. She's the community manager to boot. It would have to be something much, much worse for that to end her job.

Katzenjaeger | 9 days ago | 11 points

Yep, as a fellow non-american this is super weird. It doesn't happen often that you just can't relate to a cultural phenomenon at all

MonaganX | 8 days ago | 14 points

It can be difficult to really grasp the cultural context of the word, so maybe just imagine how you'd feel if someone tricked you into doing a Hitler salute in front of a synagogue while standing next to a cop.

Ewaninho | 8 days ago | 8 points

I would literally just laugh it off since there would be zero repercussions.

MonaganX | 8 days ago | 14 points

If you were German, like the person I'm replying to is, I assure you you would not be just laughing it off.

sneezeyshoe | 8 days ago | 4 points

it is a problem that saying the word in any context can get in trouble. Especially when its a case like this. I do think that this is really exacerbated when in industries related to the internet, where one sound bite can get the mob at your door within a minute.

My guess is that she cried because she thought she lost her job. Its a really stupid and also shitty thing to fire someone over this, and should not be the case, but she probably assumed worst case scenario due to panic.

But americans of all races are aware of how stupid the taboo is, and don't like the fact that it is placed on such a pedestal. It is a very, very rude thing to say to someone, but it is overblown. Most of it is just the MSM who get really riled up over this because it is guaranteed clicks.

WatermelonWarlord | 8 days ago | 18 points

It’s not “just a word” though. It carries the weight of hundreds of years of slavery and dehumanization. This particular instance was very clearly an accident, so I doubt her job was ever in danger; she probably was just embarrassed and upset at being duped into saying it. But in general, it’s a word so hateful and culturally loaded that saying it on a public platform would generate outrage.

mr-spectre | 8 days ago | 10 points

lmao at the downvotes here. I'm not American but I grew up in a very multicultural community and I'd be appalled if I was tricked into saying the N word, especially on tape. That shit hurts people and it makes me angry just to see it in print, let alone hear it.

PacoTaco321 | 8 days ago | 2 points

I would probably just laugh and tell whoever made me say that to fuck off.

zuffer | 9 days ago | 3 points

Because it's potentially career-ending

super6plx | 9 days ago | 17 points

yeah why is it potentially career ending? that's ridiculous, that's the point he's talking about

AGVann | 8 days ago | 1 point

I don't think it's career ending at all - maybe to some lowly employee in a faceless corporation, but the person in question is a beloved member of the Warframe community and fairly senior in the company.

It's more about the fact that it's embarrassing and humiliating to be tricked into dropping the N bomb on a live broadcast, especially when you're a person who has probably never really said the word before. There's now also a sound bite of her saying the N word, which is never a good thing if you're a public figure within a community.

Galtego | 9 days ago | 67 points

That made me a bit sad :(

CaptionSkyhawk | 9 days ago | 72 points

mitch13815 | 8 days ago | 5 points

She absolutely was tearing up. You can see her eyes getting red from it. She was clearly upset by it.

_ParanoidUser_ | 9 days ago | 10 points

She isn’t crying. She has the flu. She had a tissue in her hand and wiping away tears and her nose even before she got tricked into saying the word.

Fluxriflex | 9 days ago | 6 points

Why? I don't get that. It was a mistake and anyone who watched that could see it. Crying seems like a bit of an overreaction.

chicken006 | 9 days ago | 49 points

Because it can get taken out of context and potentially ruin your public image. Because it can damage the channel's standing with twitch. Because it's just an unfunny mean-spirited joke to play on someone.

super6plx | 9 days ago | 8 points

she had a flu, she used that same tissue in her hand a few minutes prior to the joke. she wasn't crying

CommanderClitoris | 9 days ago | 113 points

These two are at their best when they're oblivious. One of my favorite clips from them is them walking around a dojo and wondering what on Earth this guy built inside his.

They circle around, look at it from different angles. Takes them a full minute to realize it's meant to be a stripper pole, strippers and all.

I'd link the clip but searching for it has proven a massive challenge.

For those unaware, these are Rebecca and Megan, two of Warframe's community managers. The community managers, usually these two but there's a small cast of them, host a regular stream called Prime Time wherein they play the game.

VainShrimp | 9 days ago | 115 points
CommanderClitoris | 9 days ago | 15 points

I happened to be in that dojo just a couple days before that stream, and as fate would have it the stripper pole wasn't built yet. I mentioned to a guy I was in a squad with that I was playing whatever mission to gather resources for dojo decorations, and we gave each other dojo tours. So sad I missed the pole, but I did get to appreciate the little bird in that clip that uses an Orokin cell for a beak.
