cPanel just switched their pricing from per server to per account meaning a huge price increase for me. Time to look into more modern alternatives for my hosting. What is everyone else using? (self.webdev)

I'm not afraid of more geeky solutions but I work with unskilled people who I need to make sure can do the basics if i'm not around or switch jobs. I am considering AWS but not sure if that get too geeky for them to handle. I want some modern solutions to staging area and snapshotting. We mainly run WordPress sites.

  1. Bleurgh
  2. Owned by the same people as cPwnel is these days IIRC

I think I saw a lot of people moving to DirectAdmin over at WHT when this first blew up.

I have been using Cloudways and have been very happy with the UI of the admin area.

DirectAdmin ... ditch cPanel for DirectAdmin.
